Happy Mother’s Day Mom

Happy Mother’s Day by Julia Kitzinger

Mother’s Day is soon approaching, and it just feels right to give a shout out to all the mammas out there. Mothers do so much for their families and make all sorts of sacrifices for their kids, and most of those sacrifices go unnoticed. This day is a special day for moms to be recognized for all they do. A mother’s bond to her children is something so special and so unique to each child. I have the special honor of working with my mom – something not everyone has the opportunity to do. As most of you may know, I run the clinical side of our agency while counseling moms and working with adoptive families. A few years ago, Hopeful Beginnings lost our events coordinator and I volunteered with my mom for the job. I knew my mom used to run other organizations while I was in school. When I told her about it, she was up for the challenge, thinking it would only be for one Gala. Well, 3 Galas later and she is still working with our agency, and it feels that everyone at the agency appreciates and loves her almost as much as I do.

I have always been very close with my mom since I was young, and she is definitely my best friend today. She taught me almost everything I know and was always there for me. Being the child of parents who divorced when I was a baby, I grew up seeing firsthand the sacrifices she made for me being a single mom. Whether it was not having much of a social life, to spend time with me, or working full time while being a party lite consultant to bring in extra money for us, she never showed exhaustion, hopelessness, or sights of being overwhelmed. Now that I am an adult, I appreciate those sacrifices much more and can acknowledge all she really did for me.

My mom is the strongest woman I know, truly the heart of our family. This day, and really all days, is for our moms to know how much they are loved and appreciated. Whether you are an adoptive mom, single mom, birth mom, stepmom, or just a mamma through love, this is Hopeful Beginnings wanting to celebrate and share this day with you all.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!
