Michaela is a licensed clinical social worker who has dedicated her career to the service of women and the LGBTQIA+ community. She obtained a BA in psychology from Creighton University in 2017 and an MSW from University of Nebraska Omaha in 2020. Her professional experience began in Lincoln, NE providing therapy and psychoeducation for women in long-term residential treatment for substance use disorders. She then moved to Portland, OR where she worked for several years as a forensic social worker to support justice-involved women and femmes seeking mental healthcare. Now joining Hopeful Beginnings in her home state of Illinois, she strives to be a perinatal social worker grounded in dialectical thinking, neurodiversity, and humanistic values. Â Outside of work Michaela can be found birdwatching, sewing, or playing video games, and her 2 cats and her tiny dog are usually not far behind.
